According to a study, Manchester, New Hampshire, is a safe city with low numbers of foreclosures and mortgages at risk

Manchester, New Hampshire, is a beautiful and peaceful city that stretches along the Merrimack River. It is the largest city in New Hampshire and northern New England, and it is also famous for its industrial past, affordable housing, and vibrant arts scene. According to a recent study by WalletHub, Manchester, New Hampshire, is one of the safest cities in the United States, both for the quality of life of its inhabitants and for its financial stability. The criteria considered in this study include the risk of natural disasters, financial security, and community safety.

South Burlington, a city in Vermont, ranked first as the safest city nationwide, with excellent road safety, the lowest number of pedestrian deaths, and a high number of emergency medical technicians and paramedics per capita. It also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.

However, the study covers a wide range of criteria, including the risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes, river floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfire threats. Financial security was evaluated through parameters such as unemployment rates, the percentage of uninsured drivers, debt-to-income ratios, poverty levels, and foreclosure rates. Other factors included in this study to name Manchester as one of the safest cities in the country are job stability, employment growth, personal bankruptcy rates, and the proportion of mortgages in serious trouble.

Regarding home and community safety, factors such as murders, homicides, assaults, robberies, rapes, drug overdose deaths, terrorist attacks, the number of mass shootings, and hate crimes were considered. The presence of police officers, active firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and the proportion of homeless people were also taken into account.

In this entire study, Manchester scored well in terms of natural disaster risk with a score of 111. It scored 67 in home safety and 9 in financial security, the latter being the field that includes the dangers of foreclosure auctions. Chip Lupo, an analyst at WalletHub, said: “When people think of city safety, they probably consider crime rates, car accident rates, or natural disaster risks. The safest cities in America protect residents from these physical threats and property but also ensure financial security. Financial security involves reducing the risks of fraud and identity theft, maintaining employment, and addressing the issue of homelessness.”
